If you are using a Kogan monitor with an Xbox One S or Series X console and are finding that you cannot set your Xbox's display to a resolution of 1440p with a refresh rate of 120Hz when using a HDMI 2.0 connection, please refer to the following information.
This issue is caused by an incompatibility between monitors that use non-VESA standard frequency timings and the Xbox operating system.
Xbox's operating system currently does not support non-VESA standard frequency timings, which means that Xbox consoles cannot be set to any display settings other than those the operating system recognises as standard.
This does not indicate that your monitor is not capable of matching the display specifications advertised. You should be able to achieve the advertised display capabilities by connecting the monitor to a device that supports the maximum display settings.
To confirm that your monitor is capable of displaying 1440p at 120Hz, you can connect the monitor to a PC using the HDMI 2.0 port and a HDMI 2.0 cable and check whether you can adjust your PC to your preferred resolution and refresh rate.
If you can set your PC to 1440p at 120Hz, this shows that the issue is caused by an incompatibility with the Xbox rather than an issue with the monitor itself.
If you are also experiencing display issues with devices other than your Xbox console, you may need to adjust your monitor's settings and contact our Customer Care Team if the problem persists.
How Can I Improve My Monitor's Performance?
You may be able to improve the performance of your monitor by connecting your Xbox using a DisplayPort cable instead of HDMI 2.0. DisplayPort should fully support the monitor's maximum display settings.
A HDMI 2.0 to DisplayPort adapter can allow you to connect your Xbox to the monitor using a DisplayPort cable to resolve this issue.
Please note that the information in this article may change if the Xbox operating system's compatibility is changed in a future update released by Microsoft. Update your firmware regularly to ensure that any system updates are installed.
