If you experience a power outage whilst using your washing machine, or there is another issue that prevents the cycle from finishing, the washing machine will still be locked.
If this occurs, any garments will remain locked inside the machine until the cycle can be complete.
In an emergency, the lock can be overridden, however, it can be dangerous, and you must wait a minimum of one hour for the water to cool.
As the cycle is not complete, there is a risk of:
- Burns from hot water
- Water spills
To reduce the likelihood of this occurring, the water in the washer should be allowed to cool to room temperature, and the water level should be less than one bucket.
Once this is confirmed, the door can be opened by pulling the rope mechanism at the bottom of the device, as shown in the video below:
