REGISTRATION

Download the Kogan Smarter Home app from the Play Store Android or App Store iOS. If you do not have a Kogan Smarter Home account, register or sign in with a verification code sent by SMS. To register: Step 1: Tap to enter registration page. Step 2: The system automatically recognises your country/area. You can also select your country code manually. Enter your email address and tap Next. Step 3: Alternatively, you can select Register by mobile number and enter the verification code sent to you by SMS. Step 4: Create a profile on the next page to define your location and room.

ADDING YOUR DEVICE (Standard Pairing Mode)

Adding device through network. Note, the device and the app have to use the same Wi-Fi network. The device is only compatible with 2.4Ghz networks. Step 1: To connect with the app, your Smarter Home product needs to be in pairing mode. This will differ depending on the device, so be sure to check the supplied User Manual or Quick Start Guide for the product-specific instructions. Step 2: Within the Smarter Home app, tap the + icon in the upper right to add a new device through the network. Step 3: Select the type of device you want to connect to. If you are unsure, or cannot find the appropriate category on this list, select Auto Scan.

Step 4: Ensure the Smarter Home device is powered on and in the Wi-Fi pairing mode, as outlined in step 1. The app will prompt you to confirm this for example, confirm indicator light is blinking rapidly. If your device does not match the description of the pairing mode on the app screen, do not tap confirm. Pairing mode tip: When powered on for the first time, many Smarter Home devices will start in pairing mode by default. If the device is matching the on-screen prompts step 4, simply confirm this and continue. If the device was powered on before downloading the app and registering your account, it may have timed out and exited the pairing mode. Simply turn the device off and on again to restart. Step 5: Upon successfully confirming pairing mode, enter your Wi-Fi details. It is important that your Smarter Home device and the app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup.

The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Ensure your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and the Smarter Home device are kept close until connection is complete. After successfully being added, you will have the option to rename the device and assign it to a location. It will now be listed on the apps home page. Tap the device listing to enter its control page.

OTHER PAIRING MODES

Selecting other configuration modes (AP Mode, Smart Mode, etc). If your Smarter Home product does not successfully connect via the standard configuration method, we recommend trying one of the alternate pairing options included within the app. Follow steps 1-3 of the standard pairing instructions as outlined above. Instead of confirming the pairing mode, select Other Mode from the top-right corner. Here you will see a list of available pairing modes. Select the appropriate option and continue connection process by following the on-screen prompts. Note, when using AP Mode, your Smarter Home product will transmit a Wi-Fi hotspot for your phone to connect to. Pairing will automatically commence once connected. If the Wi-Fi hotspot does not appear in your list of available networks, try placing the device into pairing mode again as per step 1 of standard pairing instructions.

GOOGLE HOME CONTROL

Adding Smarter Home to the Google Home app. Note, you will need to have set up a Google Home account prior to linking your Kogan Smarter Home device. Step 1: From the home page of the Google Home app, select the + icon to access the Add and manage page. Step 2: Select Set up device, then under the Works with Google banner, select Have something already set up? Please note that Google Home can only control the base/core functions of any compatible Smarter Home devices. To make full use of this products smart functionality, please use the Kogan Smarter Home app.

Step 3: Select the search bar and type Smarter Home to locate the Kogan Smarter Home service. Step 4: Tap Authorise to grant Google permission to access the Smarter Home app and your devices. Step 5: From here, you will be prompted to sign into your Smarter Home account using either your email or mobile phone number, depending on which you registered your account with.

Step 6: Once connected, the app will display any compatible devices linked to your Smarter Home account. From here you can assign them to rooms and set up any routines. Step 7: Tap on any of the devices to view a list of available commands.

AMAZON ALEXA CONTROL

Adding Smarter Home to the Alexa app. Note, you will need to have set up an Alexa account prior to linking your Kogan Smarter Home device. Step 1: From the home page of the Alexa app, select the top-left icon and select Skills & Games from the sidebar. Step 2: Select the search bar and type Smarter Home to locate the Kogan Smarter Home skill. Please note that Amazon Alexa can only control the base/core functions of any compatible Smarter Home devices. To make full use of this products smart functionality, please use the Kogan Smarter Home app.

Step 3: Tap Enable to Use to add the Kogan Smarter Home skill to Alexa. Step 4: From here, you will be prompted to sign into your Smarter Home account using either your email or mobile phone number, depending on which you registered your account with. Step 5: Tap Authorise to grant Alexa permission to access the Smarter Home app and your devices.

Steo 6: Once connected, the app will perform a search and display the devices linked to your Smarter Home account. Step 7: When your devices have successfully connected to the Alexa app, you will be able to control your Kogan Smarter Home devices via Alexas voice commands.
