We make every effort to ensure your new luggage arrives undamaged.
As with any product, damage can occur during transit. To prevent this, the suitcase comes with a thin, clear protective plastic coating.
We have found that the luggage sets may appear to be damaged upon arrival, however, the majority of these cases are instances where only the protective outer plastic layer has been affected.
It is a standard practice to wrap hardshell luggage products in a thin outer layer of protective plastic, designed to guard against scratches or surface damage. This film can be removed at your leisure, and you will most often find that the shell beneath this plastic is entirely unblemished and noticeably shinier!
Below is a hardshell luggage product with scratches on the outer plastic. Note the slight protrusions around the scratched area indicating that this is the protective layer.
Though this situation is a relatively rare occurrence, we have put together some instructions to help you easily remove this protective layer so that you may enjoy the use of their product without being concerned about its appearance, or if you simply wish to have a shiny finish rather than matte.
1. Trace the seams and outlines of any protrusions on the item with a pointed implement, such as a pin or sewing needle. Please ensure you follow all the seams on the product as much as possible.
2. Peel back the protective film layer, attempting to remove it in one piece where possible. After outlining the edges of the plastic layer with an appropriate tool, this should be considerably easier to perform.
Note: Do not use a bladed tool such as a knife or razor, as this can easily cause damage to the product itself. Please ensure the implement utilised does not have a cutting edge on it.
We have also found an instructional video which demonstrates how to perform this quickly and easily. Whilst this video is intended for luggage from a different manufacturer, this process can be followed identically due to this being standard practice for many types of hardshell luggage:
If you are having difficulty with this process, or if the damage extends below the protective layer, please please contact our Support Team via your Kogan.com Order History so that we may assist you further.
