Before First Use
- Read and follow all the instructions for this device even if you feel you are familiar with the product.
- Install the heater fully before turning it on.
Note: When the heater is first used you may detect some smell and smog, this is normal. When new, the protective oils used on the element during production will burn off on first use. Allow the appliance to heat up in an open environment and the smell will disappear over a short period.
Important Safety Notes
- This heater is not equipped with a device to control the room temperature.
Warning: To reduce the fire risk, electrical shock or injury to persons or property, basic safety precautions should always be followed using any electrical product, including the following:
- The heater must be installed a safe distance from furniture or other appliances and must be securely affixed to the wall.
- The heater is to be installed so that the controls cannot be touched by a person who is using a bath or shower.
- Consult a qualified electrician or service technician if the power cord is damaged.
- Always store the heater when not in use.
- Make sure the heater has cooled down before storing it away.
- The heater should not be used if the room’s occupant is physically disabled or is otherwise unable to control it without supervision.
- Use only the voltage specified on the rating plate of the heater.
- Do not cover the grilles or block entry or exhaust of airflow by placing appliance against any surface and keep all objects at least 1 metre from the front, side and rear of the appliance.
- Do not place the product close to a radiant heat source.
- Do not use in areas near where gasoline, paint or other flammable liquids are used or stored.
- To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch any surface of the product when it is hot: switch off and let it cool before moving.
- Do not immerse in liquid or allow water into the interior of the heater, as this could create an electrical shock hazard.
- Do not touch the appliance with wet hands.
- Do not attempt to repair this product yourself. If the product or its power supply experience any malfunction or damage, stop using it immediately and contact Kogan.com to arrange a repair.
- The most common cause of overheating is deposits of dust or fluff in the heater. Ensure that these deposits are removed regularly by unplugging the heater and vacuum cleaning air vents and grilles.
- Do not use this product near a window, because rain may cause electric shock.
- Do not use any abrasive cleaning products. Clean with a cloth dampened (not wet) in soapy water.
- Do not use the product near a bath, shower, swimming pool or other liquids.
- Do not use an extension cord with this product.
- Do not allow the cord to come into contact with any heated surface during operation.
- Do not run the power cord where people may trip.
- Do not twist, kink or wrap the cord around the heater, as this may cause the insulation to waken and split. Always ensure that all cord has been removed from any cord storage area.
- Do not store heater while it is still hot.
- Do not use this appliance with another programmer, timer or any other device that switches the heater on automatically, since a fire risk exists if the heater is covered or positioned in incorrectly.
- All cover of this appliance is intended to protect direct access to the heating elements and must be in place when the appliance is in working state.
- Use this product based as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by Kogan.com may cause fire, electric shock or injury.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
- Children of less than 3 years should be kept away unless continuously supervised. Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall only switch ON/OFF the appliance if it has been placed or installed in its intended normal operating position and they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate and clean the appliance or perform user maintenance.
- CAUTION - Some parts of this product can become very hot and cause burns. Particular attention must be given where children and vulnerable people are present.
- The installation instructions for heaters for mounting at high level shall state that the heater must be installed at least 1.8 m above the floor.
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
- This heater is not suitable to be used on long pile carpets or thick rugs.

Installation
Remove the heater and all accessories from the packing.
Retain the packaging if possible, in case storage or transport is required in future.

- Use the screws to install two of the fixed frames to the machine above, as shown in Figure A.
- Use the screws to install two of the fixed frames on the wall or ceiling, as shown in Figure B.
- Connect the machine with a screw, as shown in figure C.
When connecting to power, ensure the heater does not use the same socket with another high-power appliance.
Kogan SmarterHome™ 3000W Ceiling Strip Radiant Heater
The Kogan SmarterHome™ 3000W Strip Heater draws up to 3000 watts, and as such requires custom wiring installed by a qualified technician.
Ceiling Installation
The distance from the wall should be 200mm, as shown in Figure 1.
Double-Hanging Ceiling Installation
Two electrical appliances are connected through a connecting frame installed on the ceiling, as shown in Figure 2. Please note, this requires additional parts which are not included.
Wall-Mounted Installation
The distance from the floor should be at least 2200mm and distance from the ceiling should be at least 200mm, as shown in Figure 3.
Ceiling-Mounted Installation
The appliances are hooked up and hang from the ceiling, as shown in Figure 4.

Kogan Smarterhome™ App
Download the “Kogan SmarterHome™” app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).
Log in/Register
Open the SmarterHome™ app and either register for a new account or log in with an existing account.
To register:
- Tap to enter the registration page.
- The system automatically recognises your country/area. You can also select your country code manually. Enter your mobile phone number/email address and tap “Next”.
- If you choose the mobile phone number option, then enter the verification code in the message sent to you by SMS. Set a password as prompted and press “Confirm” to finish your registration.
Add Device Through Network
1. Power the SmarterHome™ device on. The heater will arrive with the WiFi reset, ready to be paired. You will see the WiFi icon in the top right of the LCD flash. If the icon is not flashing, or you need to reset the connection, follow these steps:
- Press and hold the Switch button.
- Press and hold the High/Low button.
- Press and hold the Temperature increase button.
- Release all three buttons.
- The WiFi indicator light should flash.
2. Open Kogan SmarterHome™app and tap “+” in the upper right to add a new device through the network.
3. Ensure the device’s indicator light rapidly flashes and tap “Confirm light is rapidly flashing”.
4. Select Wi-Fi network (note: network must be 2.4GHz band) and enter the password.
The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app.
5. After successfully configuring the devices, the device will be shown on the home page. Tap to enter its control page.
Note:
- When the device is online, it can be controlled.
- When the device is offline, it displays “Offline” and cannot be remotely powered on.
Google Home Control
Note: You will need to have set up a Google Home account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.
1. Select “Menu” and then “Home Control”.
2. In the “Home Control” screen, select the “+” icon in the bottom right.
3. A list will appear showing actions and a search function to access more apps from here, install the SmarterHome™ app.

4. Log into your SmarterHome™ account with your email address or mobile number.
5. Once linked, it will show the devices linked to your account, you can assign them to rooms. You will be prompted to authorise apps to sync.
6. Click “Done” and then it will give you a list of commands available.
7. When successfully linked, you will see it on your “Home Control” screen at the bottom of the app screen. You can now control your Kogan SmarterHome™ devices through Google Home.

Alexa
Note: You will need to have set up an Alexa account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.
- Select “Menu” and then “Skills”.
- Search for the app and enable it.
- Login to your SmarterHome™ account with your email address or mobile number.
- Select “Discover Devices” and the app will begin searching.
- When successfully linked, you will see a list of connected Kogan SmarterHome™ devices. You can now control your Kogan SmarterHome™ devices through Alexa with your voice.

Operation
Read this guide in its entirety before first use.
Power Button 
With the heater connected to power and the hard power switch turned on, the power indicator will begin flashing.
Press the power button on the remote to turn on the heater. The room temperature will be displayed. If the temperature is lower than the preset temperature, the heater will turn on to increase it.
Lock Function
Press the Switch button to enter command input mode.
Press the power and Lock button simultaneously to toggle the lock function on/off. Other commands will be disabled while the lock function is active.
Display Function
Press the Display button to toggle the screen display on/off.
High/Low Setting
While the heater is working, press the High/Low button to toggle between High and Low power settings.
Setting Temperature+Time
- Firstly, to set the temperature, press the Set button to enter temperature setting mode.
- Use the up and down buttons to increase or decrease the temperature in increments of 1°C (between 45°C and 5°C).
- Press Set again to confirm.
- To set an operation duration, after which the heater will shut off, wait approximately 10 seconds and double-press the Set button to enter time setting mode.
- Use the up and down buttons to increase or decrease the time in increments of 1 hour (between 1 and 24 hours).
- Press Set again to confirm.
Window Detection
If the heater detects that the ambient temperature changes by 3°C or more within 2 minutes, the heater will shut off. You will need to switch it off and on for it to resume operation.
Wi-Fi Reset
During operation, press the Switch button, High/Low button and up button in sequence to reset all the Wi-Fi network information.
Switch OFF
- Press the power button on the remote to return the heater to standby.
- Turn off the power switch on the heater to turn it off completely.
