- For additional protection, it is strongly recommended that the use of a residual current device (ROD) with a tripping current not exceeding 30mA be used on the circuit supplying this product. If you are unsure if your home has this device, please contact your nearest Electrical Contractor.
Overheat Protection
- The Heated Throw is fitted with numerous overheat safeguard systems. This offers protection against overheating or damage to the elements by disengaging the power to the elements before overheating hazards occur.
- Should there ever be a problem with the heating element in the Heated Throw, it will automatically close down the operation and the Heated Throw will turn off.
- The controller must not be covered. The controller has built-in protection so that if the controller overheats or the heating element is damaged, it will automatically stop working.
Assembly Instructions
Connecting the Controller
- Turn off the power and remove the plug from the power source
- To fit the controller plug, simply hold the socket with one hand and push the controller plug all the way until it’s firmly in place.
- To remove the controller, lift the locking tab up with your finger and pull the plug directly out. Do not pull the controller cable and do not try and pull the controller plug out without lifting the locking tab as you will damage the socket.
- Do not fold, roll or kink the cable. Allow the cable to hang freely.
- Ensure the cable is not pulled tight so that it bends hard at the Heated Throw connector end.
Ensure the Heated Throw is the appropriate size for the bed. The top must not hang over the edges of the mattress.
Operation
Using Your Heated Throw
- Read the Safety and Warnings section and set up as outlined in Assembly. Once you have ensured the Heated Throw is not folded or creased and the controller plug is fitted securely, plug it in and switch it on, keeping the controller away from external heat sources, such as heaters, fireplaces, etc.
- Wrap the Heated Throw around your body or drape it over your legs. The Heated Throw MUST NOT be used under a blanket (as with an ordinary electric blanket.
- When wrapping the throw around your body and shoulders, ensure that the controller connection is at the bottom and facing on the outside for comfort.
- If using in conjunction with another normal blanket, place the Heated Throw on top of the other blanket. The Heated Throw must always be positioned on the outside to prevent overheating.
Important:
- Do not cover the controllers at any time.
- The Heated Throw must not be used in bed or while sleeping. Turn off and unplug while not in use.
Store it in a dry place when finished.
Using the Controller
Use your Heated Throw with Detachable Controller only.
Turn controller to the “ON” position on the right-hand side. It will enter standby and display 0 for time and temperature.
Use the Temperature and Time buttons to set the temperature and time or press High to preheat. If preheating, the display will show H, which will switch to L after 1 hour.
Auto-Off
The controller can be programmed with a 1-9-hour automatic shutoff timer.
Electrical Field Effect
When using the Heated Throw, some people may be susceptible to a tingling sensation when alone or when touching someone else using the Heated Throw.
This sensation is caused by the current flowing through the element, creating an Electromagnetic Field (EMF) and is common among similar products. Some people are more susceptible to feeling this tingling sensation than others. This is no cause for concern and is in no way an electric shock.
