Some of our TV models will occasionally switch themselves off without input from the user. This is usually a feature of the product that can be rectified by changing settings in the unit's internal system menus and is not usually indicative of a larger issue.
Always ensure that your TV has the most recent version of its firmware installed, as this will ensure that the latest bug fixes and software updates will be as up-to-date as possible, and will likely resolve any powering off issues with no further action required.
If none of the suggestions below should resolve the issue, feel free to reach out to our customer support team who will be happy to assist you further.
Auto Power Off (older LED TVs)
If you are seeing a message which says 'Dev.Auto Power Off (Press Any Key to Cancel)', this may be related to the TV's power settings:
- Press MENU on your remote
- Navigate to SETUP using the ◄/► keys, and press ENTER
- Navigate to Time Settings using the ▲/▼ keys, and press ENTER
- Disable both the "Sleep Timer" and "Auto Sleep" functions
This will prevent the unit from automatically powering off when no remote signals have been received for a set period, or if a sleep timer has been set automatically.
Foxtel
If your Foxtel-connected TV is displaying 'Dev.Auto Power Off (Press Any Key to Cancel)' but continues to turn off after a button is pressed, then this is likely due to your Foxtel box's energy saving settings.
To ensure that your TV does not turn off in this circumstance, you will need to stop your Foxtel from going into Auto Standby by changing the Energy Saving Level to 'Off'.
You can do this by following the steps applicable to your Foxtel model here: http://www.foxtel.com.au/got/support/tv/how-to-use/foxtel-remote/auto-standby.html
If you have any questions about this setting, you can contact Foxtel directly for further information.
If changing your Foxtel Energy Saving Level to 'Off' does not resolve the issue, please feel free to contact our support team.
SmarterTV™
Our SmarterTV™ models utilise the Android TV framework, which does have a built-in Auto Standby function for when the unit has not received a remote command for an extended period.
This is a standard energy-saving feature, but can be easily bypassed with the following steps:
- Press MENU key when viewing a channel or input source
- Select "More" from the options
- Navigate to Setup using the ◄/► keys and press OK
- Scroll down to Auto Standby using the ▲/▼ keys and press OK
- Change this setting to "Off"
OLED panel TVs
This TV has an inbuilt 'switch off' feature which has been included to preserve the OLED panel and reduce the risk of irreparable screen damage and screen burn.
The TV will automatically switch off after extended periods of use, approximately 4 hours.
In order to assist with prolonging the life of the unit, this feature cannot be turned off.
