Install the App
Download the "Kogan SmarterHome" app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).
Register SmarterHome Account
If you do not have a Kogan SmarterHome account, register or sign in with a verification code sent by SMS
To register:
Tap to enter the registration page
The system automatically recognizes your country/area. You can also select your country code manually. Enter your mobile phone number/email address and tap “Next".
If you choose the mobile phone number option, then enter the verification code in the message sent to you by SMS. Set a password as prompted and press "Confirm" to finish your registration.
Create a profile on the next page to define your location and room.
Add Device through Network
Power the SmarterHome device on and follow the product-specific instructions to enter the Wi-Fi-connect mode.
Open Kogan SmarterHome app and tap "+” in the upper right to add a new device through the network.
Select the type of device you want to connect to on the next screen.
Ensure the device’s indicator light rapidly flashes and tap "Confirm light is rapidly flashing".
Select Wi-Fi network (note: network must be 2.4Ghz band) and enter the password.
The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app.
After successfully configuring the devices, the device will be shown on the home page. Tap to enter its control page.
Google Chromecast
To set up Chromecast viewing, a Google Home (or Android device with Google Assistant) and the Google Home app is required.
Setting Up Google Home with the Google Home App
Note: this can be skipped if your Google Home is already set up.
Make sure your Google Home is powered on and open the Google Home app by tapping the app icon on your mobile device.
Tap ’Accept’ to agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Allow the Google Home app to access the device location to discover and set up nearby devices.
Tap 'Sign in' and select a Google account that is already on your device or follow the instructions to sign in with a new Google account.
The Google Home app will scan for nearby powered on devices that are ready to set up. Tap ‘Set up’ to set up your Google Home.
When the Google Home app is successfully connected to the Google Home, tap ‘Play Test Sound’ to play a sound from the Google Home so it can be confirmed that it is connected to the correct device. If this was correct, tap 'I Heard It'.
Select the room where your Google Home is located (i.e living room, bedroom, etc.). This names the unit and helps you identify it when you want to connect to it.
Select the Wi-Fi network you want to connect your Google Home to. To automatically fetch the password for the network on your device, tap ‘OK’ and the password field will automatically populate. You can alternatively manually enter your password.
Tap 'Continue'
Google Home will now attempt to connect to the provided Wi-Fi network. When Google Home is successfully connected to your Wi-Fi network, tap 'Continue as XXXX’.
Tap ‘Allow’ to allow Google Home to get your calendar, flight information, etc. to offer you a personalized experience. This is optional and can be skipped.
Edit the location of your Google Home and set ‘Set Location’ to get weather and traffic information. This is optional and can be skipped.
Choose whether you wish to receive email notifications and tap ‘Continue’.
Choose whether you wish to link any music services and tap 'Continue'.
Tap 'Continue' to watch the Google Home tutorial or 'Skip Tutorial’ to finish set up.
Setting up Chromecast with the Google Home App
Note: This can be skipped if your Chromecast is already set up.
Connect the Chromecast to the TV or monitor you wish to use it with and power it on.
After the booting animation has finished, the link to the Chromecast setup page and temporary name of the unit will display.
Open the Google Home app, the home page will show if any devices have been located nearby or you can tap the icon in the top right-hand corner to search for these. Tap 'Set up' and 'Yes'.
Make sure the verification code is the same on your TV/monitor and your device, then tap ‘Yes’ for the next step.
Set a room name or custom name for the Chromecast like ‘Office TV’ to accurately locate and control the device in the future. After setting the name, tap ‘Next’.
Select a Wi-Fi network to connect the Chromecast to and tap ‘Next’. The unit will then attempt to connect to the network. This will show on both the device and the TV/monitor.
After this has connected, tap ‘Next’, then ‘Continue’, then ‘Continue’ again to finish the set up. You can then choose an icon to learn more or tap 'Skip Tutorial’.
Adding SmarterHome account to Google Home Control Tap ‘Home Control’ in the side menu on the Google Home app, then tap '+'
Find SmarterHome in the list, in the new window, select your SmarterHome account region, enter your account information and tap "Link Now". After you assign rooms for devices, your devices will be listed in the Home Control page.
Displaying the Live Image of the Camera via Chromecast & Google Home
You can give the Google Home commands or the Google Assistant on your Android device to view this.
The commands are in the format of:
Hey Google, show me [camera name] on [TV/monitor name]
For example, "Hey Google, show me front door on office TV". Once you get a positive response from Google Home, the display connected to the Chromecast will begin to load the video feed and will show the front door camera.
Amazon Echo - Alexa
Note: You will need to have set up an Alexa account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome device.
Select "Menu” and then "Skills".
Search for the app and enable it.
In the next page, enter your SmarterHome account information and select your country. Click “Link Now" to link your account. You can then click on the X to go back to the Alexa app.
Voice Control
Turn the unit on: "Alexa, turn on bedroom camera" (or different room depending on how you have named it)
Turn the unit off: "Alexa, turn off bedroom camera" (or different room depending on how you have named it)

Troubleshooting

Can I share access with family and friends? | Yes, you can share your cameras with family and friends who will have access to view the camera. In the app, press the Profile button and click on the "Home Management" button and you will be able to give or revoke sharing permissions. In order to share, the other user should already have downloaded the app and registered a new account. |
What's the wireless range? | The range of your home Wi-Fi is heavily dependent on your home router and the conditions of the room. Check with your router specifications for exact range data. |
The device appears offline or unreachable. | Make sure your Wi-Fi router is online and in range. Make sure you have the latest app updates installed. |
Cannot connect to the Wi-Fi network. | Make sure you entered the correct Wi-Fi password during Wi-Fi setup. Check whether there are any Internet connection problems with other devices. If the Wi-Fi signal is too weak, reset your Wi-Fi router and try again. |
