Safety & Warnings
When using this electrical appliance, basic precautions should be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to a person, including the following:
- This heater must be used on an AC power supply only and the voltage marked on the heater must correspond to the supply voltage.
- This product can draw a large amount of power in certain circumstances. It is essential that the device is connected to a grounded power supply that has been installed by a professional inline with Australian Standards.
- This product should not share an outlet or powerboard with other devices, as doing so may trip the mains power, or could potentially damage your product.
- Always use a surge protected power board to power the device.
- Do not switch the appliance on until it is properly installed as described in this manual.
- The heater must not be located immediately below a power outlet.
- Keep furniture, curtains and other flammable material at least 1 meter away from the appliance.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended during use.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended whilst connected to a power supply.
- This appliance is intended for household use and should not be used for industrial purposes.
- Regularly check the cord for damage. Never use the appliance if the cord or any part of the appliance shows signs of damage.
- Do not operate this appliance with a damaged plug or cord, after a malfunction or after being dropped or damaged in any way.
- Repairs to electrical appliances should only be performed by a qualified electrician. Improper repairs may place the user at serious risk.
- Do not run the power cable under carpets, rugs etc.
- Do not allow the power cable to hang over sharp edges or come into contact with hot surfaces.
- Never immerse the product in water or any other liquids.
- Do not use the appliance outdoors.
- Do not use the appliance if you have wet hands.
- Never use the appliance on or near hot surfaces.
- Do not operate with a damaged cord.
- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is unplugged from the power and that it has completely cooled down.
- Do not clean the appliance with abrasive chemicals.
- Never use accessories that are not recommended or supplied by Kogan.com
- Do not lift the appliance by the front panel.
- Make sure that the wall is capable of supporting the combined weight of the appliance. If necessary, have a qualified technician reinforce the wall.
- Examine the wall you want to install the mount to before you start installation. Make sure that there are no hidden power supply cables, water pipes or other objects that might be hit by the drill.
- At least two people with technical knowledge and experience are needed to install this product. Contact a qualified technician if you do not understand these instructions or parts of it, if you have doubts and if you do not have the required tools on hand.
- Do not cut off the bracket or change shape of the bracket.
Warnings
- Do not use the heater in reach of a shower, bath or a swimming pool.
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Kogan.com, its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
- In order to avoid overheating, do not cover the heater.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for them safely.
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

- Please retain all packaging until you have checked and counted all the parts.
- The fixings pack contains small items which should be kept away from young children.
- Please open the fixings pack and place all contents into a container, therefore reducing the risk of losing any small pieces.

Installation
- Do not connect the appliance to power until properly fixed to the wall and the instructions are read fully.
- The minimum distances must be observed as outlined above.
- During installation, care must be taken not to damage concealed cables and pipes.
- Take care while drilling any holes.
- The appliance is designed to be permanently fixed to a wall at a minimum height of 300mm (30cm).
- The wall bracket must be fitted horizontally and the cable routed to the bottom right of the heater.
- Height of 600mm (60cm) from the bottom of the heater to the floor is recommended for optimum viewing of the fuel bed.
- Use the bracket as a template and mark five drill positions on the wall. Make sure that these holes are level. Observe the recommended fixing dimensions as in figure 1 and 2 above.
- Put the bracket aside and drill holes on these markings with a depth of 35mm using an 8mm drill bit.
- Clean the holes from dust and insert one plug in each hole. Make sure the edge is flush with the surface.
- Hold the bracket in position and fix it with screws.
- Attach the fixing angle to the bottom of the appliance using the short screws.
- Carefully lift the appliance and hook it to the wall bracket (Fig. 2 above, circle). Do not let the appliance go until you are sure it is safely engaged to the bracket.
- Mark the hole position for fixing the angle, see Fig. 3 above. Carefully remove the appliance from the bracket and drill holes with a depth of 35mm using an 8mm drill bit.
- Clean the holes from dust and insert one plug in each hole. Make sure the edge is flush with the surface.
- Lift the appliance again, engage it to the bracket and finally fix the angle with screws.
Operation
The appliance can be operated either by the switches that are located on the top right-hand side of the fire or by the supplied remote control.
Manual Operation
a. The standby switch must first be turned on before any other controls will operate.
b. Press the power button once to turn on the appliance. The flame effect and backlight will be white by default. A red indicator light will appear to indicate that the function is on.
c. Pressing the power button for 3 seconds will turn on the automatic show function, which will change the flame colours at intervals of 10 seconds.
d. Press the 1000W button once for the low heat setting, press twice to turn off the heat setting.
e. Press the 2000W button once for the high heat settings, press twice to turn off the heat setting.
f. After turning on the heater, you can dim the backlight.
Remote Operation
a. The standby switch located at the top right-hand side of the heater must first be switched on for the heater to respond to the remote.
b. It takes some time for the receiver (heater) to respond to the transmitter (remote). Do not press buttons on the remote more than once within 2 seconds for correct operation.
c. Press the power button on the remote once to turn on the appliance, flame effect and backlight. By default, these will be coloured white.
d. Press the low/1000W button once for the low heat setting. Press this twice to turn off the heat setting.
e. Press the high/2000W button once for the high heat setting. Press this twice to turn off the heat setting.
f. Press the flame/dimmer button to change the flame colour. The options of these are:
- Orange
- Red
- Green
- Blue
- Red & Green
- Red & Blue
- Green & Blue
- Orange & Red
- Orange & Green
- Orange & Blue
g. Press the backlight button to cycle through different colours. The order of these are:
- White
- Blue
- Orange
- White & Blue
- White & Orange
- Blue & Orange
Once these have been cycled, press the backlight button again to turn off the backlight.
Safety Cut-Off
This appliance is fitted with a safety cut-off which will activate if the fire overheats (e.g. due to blocked air vents). For safety reasons, the fire will NOT automatically reset.
To reset the appliance, disconnect the appliance from the main power supply for at least 15 minutes.
Reconnect the supply to the mains and switch on the appliance.
Replacing the Lamp
Warning: Always disconnect from the power supply before removing the lamp. Only a qualified technician can replace the faulted lamp.
Kogan SmarterHome App Start Up & Connection
Install the App
Download the "Kogan SmarterHome" app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).
Register SmarterHome Account
If you do not have a Kogan SmarterHome account, register or sign in with a verification code sent by SMS.
To register:
- Tap to enter the registration page
- The system automatically recognises your country/area. You can also select your country code manually. Enter your mobile phone number/ email address and tap “Next”.
If you choose the mobile phone number option, then enter the verification code in the message sent to you by SMS. Set a password as prompted and press "Confirm" to finish your registration.
Create a profile on the next page to define your location and room.
Add Device Through Network
- Power the SmarterHome device on and long-press the "WIFI RESET" button for 10 seconds.
- Open Kogan SmarterHome app and tap “+” in the upper right to add a new device through the network.
- Select the type of device you want to connect to on the next screen.
- Ensure the device’s indicator light rapidly flashes and tap “Confirm light is rapidly flashing”.
- Select Wi-Fi network (note: network must be 2.4Ghz band) and enter the password.
The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app.
- After successfully configuring the devices, the device will be shown on the home page. Tap to enter its control page.
Google Home Control
Adding "SmarterHome" to the Google Home App Method 1:
Note: You will need to have set up a Google Home account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome device.
- From the home screen of Google Home app, press the "Add" button.
- Press "Set up device", and press "Set up or add".
- Under the "Works with Google" banner, tap "Have something already set up?"
- Navigate to the magnifying glass search icon.
- Search for "Smarter Home".
Adding "SmarterHome" to the Google Home App Method 2:
Note: You will need to have set up a Google Home account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome device.
- Select “Menu” and then “Home Control”.
- In the “Home Control” screen, select the + icon in the bottom right.
- A list will appear showing actions and a search function to access more apps: from here, install the SmarterHome app.
Using "SmarterHome"
- Log into your SmarterHome account with your email address or mobile number.
- Once linked, it will show the devices linked to your account: you can assign them to rooms. You will be prompted to authorise apps to sync.
- Click Done, and then it will give you a list of commands available
- When successfully linked, you will see it on your “Home Control” screen at the bottom of the app screen. You can now control your Kogan SmarterHome devices through Google Home.
Alexa
Note: You will need to have set up an Alexa account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome device.
- Select “Menu” and then "Skills”.
- Search for the app and enable it.
- Log into your SmarterHome account with your email address or mobile number.
- Select “Discover Devices” and the app will begin searching.
- When successfully linked, you will see a list of connected Kogan SmarterHome devices. You can now control your Kogan SmarterHome devices through Alexa with your voice.
Cleaning and Care
Cleaning
Warning: Always disconnect from the power supply before cleaning the heater.
For general cleaning, use a soft clean duster. Never use abrasive cleaners. The glass-viewing screen should always be cleaned carefully with a soft cloth. Do not use proprietary glass cleaners.
Disposal
Environmental Protection Electrical waste should not be disposed of with household waste. Please appropriately recycle where facilities exist. Check with your local council for recycling advice. |
