To connect your TV to your soundbar or sound system, first, check your item's user guide to see which connections are available on your soundbar or sound system and your TV.
For Kogan products, you can find your product's User Guide here.
Next, choose a connection option and connect your speakers and TV. We recommend HDMI ARC if your devices support it.
Finally, remember to update the input on your soundbar or amp to match the input.
HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel)
HDMI ARC allows you to connect all of your devices to your TV, and output the audio to your soundbar or sound system.
To connect your speakers to ARC, follow these steps:
- Find the ARC port on your TV. Typically only one port will support ARC, and it is usually HDMI 1, but check the writing next to the port.
- Connect your soundbar and TV using an HDMI cord. All modern HDMI cords support ARC.
- Enable CEC in your TV. The steps vary between different TVs, but many Android TVs can be updated by navigating to Settings > Device Permissions > Inputs.
- In each of your devices, set the audio output to Stereo or PCM. The steps to do this vary so check your product's user guide.
If you experience any sound issues following these steps, please update your TV's "SPDIF Type" to PCM.
S/PDIF (Sony / Panasonic Digital Face)
S/PDIF is a high-quality audio connector.
There are two variants, a fibre optic connector shown upper left, and a coaxial connector is shown to the right.
Connect the cable between the TV and the sound system.
Adjust the volume on the sound system to the desired level. Some TV may still play audio out of their native speakers. Turn the volume on the TV down to zero so the sound system is the only audio output.
Auxiliary
Auxiliary is a common cable that is supported by many TVs and sound systems.
Plug the Auxiliary cable into your sound system and into your TV, usually, the Auxiliary port is marked with a Headphones symbol.
Adjust the volume on the sound system to the desired level.
Using the Auxiliary connection generally disables the sound being played through your TV speakers.
