General Power Tool Safety Warnings
WARNING: Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
1. Work area safety
a. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b. Do not operate power tools in explosive areas, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite dust or fumes.
c. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2. Electrical safety
a. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock.
b. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e. When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f. If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
3. Personal safety
a. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection will reduce personal injuries.
c. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to a power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch is likely to cause injury.
d. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g. If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust related hazards.
4. Power tool use and care
a. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e. Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
5. Battery tool use and care
a. Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
b. Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
c. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
d. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
6. Service
a. Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
Specific Safety Warnings
- Use suitable detectors to determine if utility lines are hidden in the work area or call the local utility company for assistance. Contact with electric lines can lead to fire and electric shock. Damaging a gas line can lead to an explosion. Penetrating a water line causes property damage.
- Switch off the power tool immediately when the tool is jammed. Be prepared for high torque when the unit is jammed, that can cause kickback.
The tool may jam when the power tool is overloaded or it becomes wedged in the work piece. - Hold the power tool with a firm grip. High reaction torque can briefly occur while driving in and loosening screws.
- Secure the workplace. A work piece clamped with clamping devices or in a vice is held more secure than by hand.
- Keep your work piece clean. Blends of materials are particularly dangerous. Dust from light alloys can burn or explode.
- Always wait until the power tool has come to a complete stop before placing it down. The tool insert can jam and lead to loss of control over the power tool.
- Avoid unintentional activation. Ensure the On/Off switch is in the off position before inserting battery pack. Never carry the power tool with your finger on the On/Off switch or insert the battery pack into power tools.
- Do not open the battery.
- Protect the battery against heat, e.g., also against continuous sun irradiation and fire. There is a danger of explosion.
- In case of damage and improper use of the battery, vapours may be emitted. Provide for fresh air and seek medical help in case of complaints. The vapours can irritate the respiratory system.
- When the battery is defective, the liquid can escape and come into contact with adjacent components. Check any parts concerned. Clean such parts or replace them, if required.
Important: Always remove the battery from the machine before doing any work on the machine!
- Never fully discharge the battery pack. This will cause the battery pack to develop a defect
Attention: Please charge the battery pack regularly, for example, once every 6 months.
Changing the Tool
Before any work on the power tool (e.g., maintenance, tool change, etc.) as well as during transport and storage, set the rotational direction switch to the centre position. Unintentional actuation of the On/Off switch can lead to injuries.

Operation
Charging the battery pack
- Remove the battery pack (5) from the handle, pressing the push lock buttons (7) downwards to do so.
- Check that your mains voltage is the same as that marked on the rating plate of the battery charger. Plug the mains plug of the charger (6) into the mains socket outlet.
- Push the battery pack onto the battery charger. The red LED will come on to indicate that the battery pack is being charged. When the charging process is finished, the red LED will extinguish and the green LED will be permanently lit. The time it takes to fully recharge an empty battery is approximately 1 hour.
- The temperature of the battery pack may rise slightly during the charging operation. This is normal.
If the battery pack fails to become charged, please check whether there is voltage at the socket-outlet and whether there is proper contact at the charging contacts on the charger.
If the battery still fails to become charged, contact Certa’s Customer Service Department.
Note: To ensure that the battery pack provides long service you should take care to recharge it promptly.
Inserting the Battery
Use only original this brand Li-ion batteries with the voltage listed on the nameplate of your power tool. Using other batteries can lead to injuries and pose a fire hazard.
Set the rotational direction switch to the centre position to protect the power tool against accidental starting. Insert the charged battery into the handle so that it can be felt to engage and faces flush against the handle.
Reversing the Rotational Direction
The rotational direction switch is used to reverse the rotational direction of the machine. However, this is not possible with the On/Off switch actuated.
Right Rotation: For driving in screws and tightening nuts, press the rotational direction switch through to the left stop.
Left Rotation: For loosening and unscrewing screws and nuts, press the rotational direction switch through to the right stop.
Switching On and Off
To start the machine, press the On/Off switch and keep it pressed. To switch off the machine, release the On/Off switch.
Adjusting the Speed
The speed of the switched on power tool can be variably adjusted, depending on how far the On/Off switch is pressed. Light pressure on the On/Off switch results in a low rotational speed. Further pressure on the switch results in an increase in speed.
General Use
Apply the power tool to the screw/nut only when it is switched off. Rotating tool inserts can slip off. The torque depends on the impact duration. The maximum achieved torque results from the sum of all individual torques achieved through the impact. The maximum torque is achieved after the impact duration of 6–10 seconds. After this duration, the tightening torque is increased only minimally. The impact duration is to be determined for each required tightening torque. The actually achieved tightening torque is always to be checked with a torque wrench.
When working with an application tool, pay attention that the application tool is firmly seated on the tool holder. When the application tool is not firmly connected with the tool holder, it can come loose again and not be controlled.
Battery capacity indicator
The 3 colour LEDs will indicate the status of battery capacity as soon as you press the ON/OFF switch
- All LEDs illuminate: The battery is fully charged.
- The yellow and red LED illuminate: The battery has an adequate remaining charge.
- Red LED: The battery is empty, recharge the battery.
LED lamp
The LED lamp (8) can be used in poor lighting conditions to illuminate the area where you want to drill or screw. The LED lamp (8) will be lit automatically as soon as you press the ON/OFF switch (3)
Cleaning & Care
Always remove the battery from the machine before doing any work on the cordless wrench!
Cleaning
- Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.
- Please clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.
- Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensure that no water can seep into the device.
Maintenance
- Please charge the battery pack regularly, for example, once every 6 months.
