If your Kogan Smarter TV has turned on unexpectedly, the TV's settings need to be updated.
There are two settings that need to be deactivated:
- Fast boot, which puts the TV on standby so that it does not shut off completely
- Wake On LAN or Wake On Wireless, which allows you to remotely turn on your TV via a network, rather than using the remote.
Use the steps below to deactivate these settings.
Fast Boot
To deactivate fast boot or standby mode:
- Hold the power button on the remote for 3 seconds.
- The TV will prompt you to confirm that you want to shut the TV down.
- Select 'OK'.
Alternatively, you can change the TV settings so that the TV always shuts down when the power button is pressed. To do so, follow the steps below.
- When the TV source is on 'Live TV', press the 'MENU' button on your remote
- Select 'More'.
- Select 'TV Setting'.
- Scroll down and turn off the two settings 'Auto Standby' and 'Fast Boot'.
- Now when you press the power button on the remote the TV will prompt you to shut down. Select 'OK' when this prompt occurs.
Wake-On-LAN/Wireless
Wake-on-LAN (WoL) and Wake-on-Wireless-LAN (WoWLAN) allow you to use a device to turn on your TV via your WiFi or Ethernet connection, without using your TVs remote. This function can be very useful, but if activated unintentionally, could cause your TV to turn on.
To deactivate this setting, follow these steps:
- When the TV source is on 'Live TV', press the 'MENU' button on your remote
- Select 'More'.
- Select 'TV Setting'.
- Under Network and Internet settings, deactivate 'WoW' and 'WoL'.
