Safety and Warnings
- Before use, clear any objects on the floor (remove all the fragile objects and cords, clothing, papers, loose cables, as well as make sure to lift curtains and drapes off the floor to avoid any possible accidents.) Make sure the carpet corner edges are down- warp, hanging tablecloth or curtain should not touch the ground.
- When your SmarterHome Robot Vacuum is to be used by a child, the child must be of 8 years old and above. For persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, proper supervision or instruction should be given concerning use of the appliance in a safe way to help them understand the hazards involved. Children should not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children without supervision.
- If there are steps in the working area of the SmarterHome Robot Vacuum, the enclosed Virtual Wall can be applied to the top stair. The minimum distance to the edge of the step should be approximately 6in (15cm) on hardwood or thin carpet. On thick carpet, the minimum distance to the edge of the step should be approximately 7in (18c m). This is an extra safety measure to prevent the robot from falling off an edge or stairs.
- Only use recommended original spare parts.
- This appliance should only be used for domestic cleaning, as described in this user guide.
- Use only the original charger supplied with the appliance. Check that your supply voltage is the same as that stated on the charger. Never charge the batteries in temperature above 40 degrees centigrade or below 0 degrees centigrade. Plug the charger delivered with this appliance into a suitable socket.
- Make sure the dust box and filtering cloth are installed properly before use.
- Don't spray with or pick up flammable liquids, cleaning fluids, aerosols or their vapours
- Use this product in temperature from 0°C to 40°C.
- Don't put your hair, clothes, fingers or other parts of body close to the main brush or side brushes.
- Don't use this device in a baby room.
- Don't use this product on the ground of moisture or with ponding area.
- Make sure this product is not used to vacuum cigarette ends, lighters, matches or any other flammables that may cause a fire.
- Clean the dust bin and vacuuming port before use, clear out dust, hair or cotton fibre at the suction port frequently. Don't block the inlet of the dust box.
- Do not over-bend or press the flexible cord with heavy or sharp objects. Don't let the robot walk over the cord or tangle the cord when it is cleaning. Keep the cord from heat sources.
- Only authorized technicians can disassemble the product. Users are not allowed to disassemble or repair the product.
- Don't use damaged charging dock.
- Don't use damaged cord or adapter. Don't use the robot if it is broken. Search for after-sales services or repair to avoid being hurt.
- Turn off the switch before you clean or maintain the device.
- Do not place this product where it is easy to drop off (tables, chairs, etc). Before charging, check the adapter and outlet whether these are properly connected.
- Leaks from battery cells can occur under extreme usage or temperature conditions. If the liquid gets on skin, wash quickly with water. If the liquid gets into eyes, flush them immediately with clean water for a minimum of 10 minutes. See medical attention.
- End of life battery removal. If the appliance is to be disposed of, the batteries must first be removed. The appliance must be disconnected from the supply mains when removing the battery.
- Turn off the power switch during product transportation or when you don't need to use this product for a long time.
- It is normal for the charger to become warm to touch when charging.
- Please strictly follow up instructions of this USER MANUAL when using the device. We take no responsibility to any loss or damages caused by improper use.

Scheduling Setting Button
When the robot is standby, press this button to enter Scheduling Setting.
When in Scheduling Setting Mode, press this button to cancel Scheduling, the schedule time turns to be [00:00].
Time Setting Button
When the robot is standby, press this button to enter Time Setting Button.
Auto Charging Button
when the Robot is standby, press this button to start searching for charging station.
Edge Cleaning Button
When the robot is standby, press this button to start edge cleaning.
Spot Cleaning Button
When the robot is standby, press this button to start spot cleaning.
Note: Please install two AAA batteries in the remote control before using. Take off the battery if no use for long time.

Product Operation
Sleeping/Standby/Cleaning
Sleeping: Power Switch is On, the display panel is Off
Standby: Power switch is On, the display panel is On
Cleaning: The robot is cleaning, the display panel is On
Cleaning
Make sure the power switch is On.
Press any Cleaning Button on the robot or remote control to activate the cleaning.
Note: If the robot is in Standby mode, pressing any cleaning button on the robot or the Standby button on the remote control to wake it up.
Standby
Standby means the robot is on but stopped from previous Cleaning Mode. When the robot is cleaning, pressing any cleaning button on the robot or remote control may stop the robot from the current cleaning mode.
Note: You may operate the robot when it is in Standby Mode.
Sleeping
When the robot is on and not cleaning, it will enter Sleeping Mode automatically within 45 seconds if without any operation.
When the robot is on and not cleaning, pressing Standby/Wake Up button to activate Sleeping Mode.
Scheduling
A cleaning schedule for the robot can be set up with the remote control.
Time Setting
Make sure the robot is on and not in charging.
Point your remote control toward the display panel of the robot, press Time Setting Button, the left two numbers will flash, press "A"Up Arrow/"V"Down Arrow to set up the current HOUR, and press OK to confirm; then the right two numbers will flash, press "A''Up Arrow/''V''Down Arrow to set up the current Minute, press OK to confirm. Current clock setting is finished.
Scheduling Setting
Once the scheduling setting is activated, the robot will start working as per the scheduled time every day.
-Make sure the robot is on and not in charging.
-Point your remote control toward the display panel of the robot, press PLAN Setting Button, the left two numbers will flash, press "A''Up Arrow/''V''Down Arrow to set up the current HOUR, and press OK to confirm; then the right two numbers will flash, press "A''Up Arrow/''V''Down Arrow to set up the current Minute, press OK to confirm. The scheduling setting is finished.
-To cancel the Scheduling: set up the scheduling time to [00:00] to cancel the scheduling.
Note: Your scheduling will be erased automatically if you change the battery or take out the battery from your robot. You may need to reset the scheduling time accordingly.
Cleaning Modes
Auto Cleaning Mode /ZIGZAG Cleaning
Your SmarterHome Robot Vacuum uses Inertial Navigation, an advanced navigation system that uses the algorithmic calculation to define the best path to efficiently clean your room. When it is in Auto Cleaning Mode, it will clean rooms automatically and adjust its cleaning modes according to environment (starts from ZIGZAG cleaning to maximize cleaning efficiency).
Note: By pressing the Auto Cleaning button on the robot or remote control to activate Auto Cleaning mode.
Spot Cleaning Mode
Place the robot in the area that requires Spot! Cleaning, press the Spot Cleaning button on the robot or remote control to active this mode.
Note: If you want to terminate the Spot Cleaning mode, press any Cleaning buttons on the remote control or the to stop this mode; also the robot will automatically stop cleaning when Spot Cleaning is done.
Edge Cleaning Mode
Put the robot close to the edge of wall, press the Edge Cleaning button on the remote control to start this mode.
Note: If you want to terminate the Edge Cleaning mode, press any Cleaning buttons on the robot control or the robot to stop this mode.
Scheduling Cleaning
Set up Scheduling Cleaning as per your need. When scheduling is set up, the robot will start cleaning as per the schedule and returns to the charging station automatically when cleaning is done.
Full Go Cleaning
When the robot is On, or in cleaning, or in charging status (connected to charging station), press the Full Go button on the remote control to activate this mode. The robot will start cleaning automatically when charging is finished.
App Functionality
The Kogan R40 SmarterHome Robot Vacuum works with the Kogan Smarter Home app, allowing you to set schedules, turn the unit off/on, check your battery and switch modes, even when you’re not home.
To connect the Robot Vacuum with the Kogan Smarter Home app, please follow the instructions in the Smarter Home Wi-fi Connection Guide.
To set this Robot Vacuum into pairing mode, press the “Auto” button (pictured below) for 3 seconds.
After successfully pairing your Robot Vacuum with the app, you will see the below Controls within the Smarter Home app, which will allow you to set schedules, turn the unit off/on, check your battery and switch modes.
Once you have connected this Robot Vacuum to the Smarter Home app, you can connect the Robot Vacuum to Google Home and Amazon Alexa via the instructions in the Smarter Home Wi-fi Connection Guide.
Once set up, you can perform the below commands with the Robot Vacuum. The default name for the device will be “Vacuum”.

Battery Charging
Place charging station against the wall and remove obstacles from within 1 meter at both sides and about 2 meters in front of the station (as shown in the figure)
Note: Indicator light on the charging station will be on when it is connected to the power supply.
Auto Charging
When the robot is in Auto Cleaning Mode, it will start to find the charging station when power is low. When the robot is on, press Dock Button on the robot or remote control to let the robot start finding a charging station. (As shown in the figure)
Manual Charging
Connect the power plug directly to the DC plug for charging (As shown in the figure below)

Extending Battery Life
Before first use, charge the robot for over 6 hour s. Charge the robot as soon as battery power is low.
The robot will return to charging station automatically when it accomplished cleaning or battery power is low.
If the robot is not to be used for a long time, fully charge the battery before use, turn the power off, remove and store it in a cool and dry place.
If the robot is not to be used for more than 3 months, charge the robot for 12 hours, turn it off and store it in a cool and dry place.
Exchange of Dust Box and Water Tank (optional for specific model)
It is very convenient and easy to mop spots on the floor when put on the water tank and attach the cleaning cloth.
Take off the dust bin, place the water tank refilled with water on the robot, startup cleaning.
Note: When the water tank is on, the robot will automatically turn to Mopping mode. The whole body of water tank is washable. Please don't wash the DUST BIN which has motor inside. Please pour water out when you're not using the water tank.
Product Maintenance
Cleaning of Side Brush, Main Brush and Mopping Cloth Cleaning the Side Brushes The side brushes con be easily worn from heavy use so you should check regularly to monitor their conditions.
-Switch the robot cleaner off and put it up-side-down.
-Remove the retaining screws with a screwdriver.
-Use a pair of scissors to remove any trapped hair or debris.
Correct Side Brush Deformation
The side brushes can sometimes be deformed during transportation or when the product is used under particular conditions. If this happens it is possible to return to the original shape by putting bristles in hot water.
The micro-fabric mopping cloth is washable and can be used for many times.
Remove the main brush set from the robot
Push the Brush Guard Release on the main brush, then take out the roller brush and fur brush to clean. Remove the mopping cloth from water tank: the mopping cloth shall be taken off when water tank is held still. When you put the mopping cloth back, make sure the two sides are properly installed on the water tank, and stuck flat on bottom of the water tank.
Cleaning the Dust Box and Filtering Cloth
The dust box should be cleaned after every use.
-Push the button of the filtering box cover as shown in the image. Clean the filtering box and cloth with water. Let the cloth dry before using the robot again.
-Empty the contents of the dust box into a bin.
Warning:
When clean your dust box and water tank, please make sure that the dust box with motor CAN'T be washed. Water may damage your vacuuming motor;
The water tank is washable!
Cleaning of Sensors and Charging Poles
Clean the sensors and charging poles one week or according to daily use to make sure the robot is well maintained. Charging poles need to be cleaned so that the robot charges correctly.
Replace the Side Brushes:
If the side brush is damaged, it needs to be replaced. Replacement brushes can be obtained from kogan.com.
- Switch the robot cleaner off and put it up-side-down.
- Remove the retaining screw with a screwdriver.
- Remove the old side brush and put new one in place.
- Replace and tighten the screw.
Note:Please assemble them on the correct side.
Battery Removal
- Remove the screws on the battery cover with a screwdriver. Remove the battery cover.
- Grasp the insulating tape at two sides of the battery and lift the battery. Unplug the wire connector that links the battery and robot.
Note: only use the original battery of the product, otherwise it may cause product damage.
