Operation
Engine starting
Once the machine has been set up properly, start the engine as follows:
- Take the engine control bar (3) and press it against the superior handle. Pull on the recoil starter handle (9) until you can feel resistance and then pull sharply.
CAUTION: Engine is delivered without oil: add 0.6 litres of oil before starting.
WARNING: Blade is active as soon as the engine starts. The engine will stop as soon as you release the engine control bar (3).
- To engage the self-propelled system, pull on the propeller bar (7) of the upper handle (1) and keep it engaged together with the engine control bar (3).
WARNING: Before adjusting the drive cable (b), release the control bar and wait until the engine stops.
- If the drive system does not engage and disengage correctly, check the handle to ensure it is correctly assembled. Make sure that all parts are in good condition and that all the fasteners are tight.
- The drive system can slip if the drive cable (b) is too loose.
- If the drive system slips, you need to shorten the cable: turn the cable nut and test the drive system.
- If the drive system still slips, repeat the adjustment and test until the drive system does not slip.
- Before you begin to mow, make sure the drive system will correctly disengage and that the mower will stop. If the drive system will not disengage, contact Kogan.com.
ATTENTION: Ensure that all cables are tense enough.
Maintenance & Storage
WARNING: Stop the engine and unplug the spark plug before any repair or maintenance.
- Ensure that all nuts, bolts and screws are kept tightened.
- Never store the lawnmower with a tank with unleaded petrol in an enclosed area where fumes could reach a strong heat source or a flame. Allow the engine to cool before storing.
- To reduce any risk of fire, clean the lawnmower and in particular the engine, muffler and the fuel tank. Clean all traces of grass, leaves or grease.
- Frequently check the condition of the deflector and grass catcher.
- Only drain oil outside.
WARNING: Stop the engine and unplug the spark plug before any repair or maintenance.
- Check oil levels regularly and add or replace oil when necessary.
- Lubricate wheel bearings with grease regularly.
- Always ensure the blade is sharp and well balanced.
- If the blade hits violently an obstacle, stop the lawnmower and contact Kogan.com.
Blade
WARNING: Wear gloves, stop the engine and unplug the spark plug before proceeding.
WARNING: Use only original spare parts. Spare parts of bad quality can damage the mower and pose serious danger of personal injury.
- To remove the blade, unscrew the screw, check the blade support and change any spare parts which are worn out or damaged.
- To sharpen the blade, place it in a vice and file the cutting edge evenly, checking balance.
- When reassembling the blade, ensure that the cutting edges face in the direction of the engine’s rotation. Tighten blade screw to 3.7Kg*m/s2 (3.7N) torque with a dynamometric tool.
