Issue
If your air conditioner is not responding to your remote control, this could be due to an issue with either the remote itself or with the air conditioner’s IR receiver.
If there is an issue with the remote, this can be resolved simply with a new remote, rather than requiring repairs to the air conditioner itself.
The following test will help to determine the cause of the issue.
Remote Test
To begin with, please ensure that you have new batteries in your remote.
Then, follow the steps below to test your remote:
- If you have access to a digital camera that has a screen, or a phone that has a camera, turn it on and direct the remote at the camera's lens. If you are using an iPhone, please use the front-facing camera, as the rear camera will not show the light.
- While looking through the camera, try pressing any of the buttons that are having issues and look for a flash of light. The flash is not visible to the naked eye, and can only be seen through the camera's display.
If the remote is working correctly, there will be a flash of light visible on the end of the remote when viewing the remote through your camera or phone, as demonstrated in the images below:
If you see a flash of light through the camera but the remote is still not working correctly, or if you see flashes of light while you are not pressing any buttons, check that none of the remote's buttons are stuck.
If no lights are appearing and you have tested replacing the batteries, your remote may be faulty.

Remote Works Correctly, but the Air Conditioner is Still Not Working?
If the remote appears to be working correctly (lights are appearing only when you press buttons), but the air conditioner is still not responding, there may be an issue with your air conditioner's IR receiver. If this is the case, the unit may need to be assessed for repair by one of our authorised repair agents.
If you are within the product's warranty period, please contact our Support Team with the results of the above test via your Kogan.com account.
Alternatively, if your unit's warranty period has expired, please contact our Support Team to inquire about the availability of a replacement remote or the possibility of an ex-warranty repair of the unit.
